Great news regarding the signing of Salah.
I just hope we can get a CB,LB and quality Midfielder in now then I think we will have a great squad.
I am not too fussed if we don’t get a striker as JK only plays 1 striker and he isn’t bothered if it’s not an out and out striker so with Sturridge, Origi ,Solanke, Firminio and possibly Mane or Salah we should be ok in that department.

Could this be the start, or it could be us done…. you never know with FSG. We still need at at least 5 more signings. £35m today was probably worth £15m 2/3 years ago. So we have bought an average player in today’s market.

Have to disagree with your assessment of Salah being an average player. I think he’s at least as good as Mane if not better and surely you’re not saying Sadio’s just average?? I believe this is going to prove to be a very shrewd and successful signing and hopefully will be the catalyst for other top buys

Agreed. Salah has just took a picure with the shirt, it is way to early to pronounce he is not good enough. To sign Sanchez would be good, but if he did not like the way things are going, he would be off to another team.

I’m more worried by the fact that Klopp and owners have always said when we get CL football we can start to attract world class players. But I see no sign of this. Yes I think Salah will be a good signing but I believe he would have left Roma for us even without CL football. No other club was in for him. Why ain’t we in for the players scum, city and Chelsea are linked to like the Sanchez’s, lewandoski’s and even Ronaldo’s of this world. The owners are conning us and it appears Klopp is happy to play along with it. A few seasons ago Rodgers got hammered for this and was called FSG yes man and their puppet.

Is it just me being paranoid or is anybody else worried about Klopps supposed comments saying that it’s time for the youngsters to step up to the mark ???
Is that a signal that FSG are not going to spend too much money and are happy with the squad !!!! I think the only way Klopp will get any players is by selling first if we are lucky FSG will purchase 1 player around 30m ( Salah ) then the rest is generated through getting rid of deadwood and players Klopp isn’t interested in.
I am just getting very dispondant with FSG in the transfer market I personally hate the transfer windows being a LFC living in Manchester all I get all day at work is who City and Manure are after or have already got at god knows how many millions then they snigger and say to me who have Liverpool bought whilst taking the piss out of me.

Apparently the deal for Salah is close to being confirmed with the player having a medical on tue. If we get him then I believe it will be a top signing. The lad is one of the fastest players with and without the ball at his feet in European football which is what we lack massively when Mane isn’t playing. With them on both wings we will create and score a lot more next season. His fee is actually cheap when you compare him to Dybala at 80-100 mill and his stats were far superior last season. Now we have to sort out our centre back, left back & keeper situation as we ain’t gonna challenge for trophies by needing to score 3-4 goals a game to win them. The problem is that our transfer team seem massively incompetent. The Salah deal was meant to be done weeks ago but we’ve dragged it out and are paying full price anyway. And unless we sell then he could be only big signing that comes in. The owners have history with breaking even at transfer windows and I don’t see why this will be any different.

Do you remember when FSG took over the club there philosophy was to buy young develop them & sell them on well fare play to them they haven’t gone back on their word. They won’t spend big money, they believe Klopp will do a Leicester and win the PL on a shoestring. Our saving grace is we have Klopp who can transform up n coming players into superstars, thats why our incoming players will be bargain basement signings , not the big names the rest of our challengers are making.

Just maybe he’s not up to it in a league like the prem. mbappe had one good season in a league that has about 2 maybe 3 decent teams. What’s to say he can cut it in this league? There’s no chance Liverpool will spew 100 million on one player. The media are playing games with us, stringing us along. Don’t fall for it. If we were willing to spend that dough wouldn’t we go for harry Kane or Delli ally? Or wouldn’t we be going ahead and spending big on van dyke? They’ve gone cold on salah because Roma want a few quid more than we’re offering so do we really believe mbappe stories. I think there’s a touch of Walt Disney/ jackanory going on here.

I am sure it was them how told the media about the Klopp Van Dijk meeting only for Southampton to react to it. When thy did FSG could not apologies fast enough so thy could scupper the deal. Thy had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to make up the grovelling apology the part where thy say thy regret player transfers between the two clubs wot the hell is that all about. The only advice i can give to this motley mob of monkeys who run this great club is that thy can hang on to Klopp and do not sell Lucas thy will need him on the bench for a big C/L game next season

We will not sign any top players this window again. This talk of offering them CL is an urban myth. Until our owners start actually offering the clubs a proper transfer fee then it doesn’t matter. We can’t even seal deals for Salah & VVD, why ain’t we being linked to Sanchez & Bale like other clubs. Its because the media know what a joke of a club we are under these owners. After all who else in world football has sold a player like Suarez and replaced him with crap like Lambert, Balotelli and Markovic after qualifying for the CL.

Sorry to say I have to agree with you on that. Think we all get a little caught up and excited by being linked to top players when we should realise what FSG are about. Will we ever learn?? Unfortunately I feel that Klopp may have been conned by them also, saying that most of our business was already done at the end of the our campaign was maybe a little naive and now 3 weeks into close season there’s absolutely no sign of any quality established top players coming in. Surely once he sees how he’s been tricked and let down by these cowboys he won’t want to carry on much longer, he deserves better and so do we but these yanks just continue to take the piss!!!

He is one of the most sort after coaches in world football so if he thinks he’s getting mugged off at our club I’ve no doubt that he’ll let the owners know or even worse still do one!!

Am I the only person who thinks that a large portion of the blame for the Van Dijk debacle should go to Klopp??? He had no right to meet the player knowing that he wasn’t even available for transfer. Yes tapping up goes on all the time in football but not to the extent when a manager personally meets up with the prospective signing. Remember the stink that surrounded the Cashly Cole signing with whopping fines being handed out to everybody involved, and even a points deduction even being mooted? Well you never know what would’ve happened if we actually did buy Van Dijk cos it could’ve proved even more costly than the 50-60 mill transfer fee.

I think signing Van Dijk would be a great bit of business. Yes last season in a lot of the games we failed to win we dominated but we then lost after giving the opposition a silly chance (which normally came from a defensive mistake). Looking at our goals scored it would be hard to add many more to them, but looking at goals conceded then we could and should be able to reduce them by half. I still however think we could do with a better keeper and left back to complete the back four. When Mane doesn’t play we have no pace so Salah would be another top piece of business as we are at our best when we attack at pace. For me though the missing piece of the puzzle would be Fabregas. When teams park the bus we have no answer but that lad could find space in a packed phone box. And believe it or not he is a Klopp style player. In fact on average last season he covered more ground than any of our players (bar Lallana) over 90 minutes. Fabregas was third highest in the league

Personally although I like Van Dijk and he would be an excellent addition to our squad I would rather see us spending the money in other areas yes I know our defence hasn’t been up to scratch but it has t been too bad either I think it’s a couple of game changing players that we require somebody who can make a difference when teams come and park the bus. If in certain games last season we had such a player we could quite easily have won them games 3 or 4 nil but because we didn’t capitalise when was battering teams like Burnley and hull just for starters we ended up getting beat by both yes I know you will say the defence could do better what I am saying is that if we had scored in those games early on we would have run out easy winners and it’s breaking down teams that we struggle with more than defending and if FSG are only giving us a certain amount of money then I would prefer us to get some more creativity and scoring power but if FSG are giving us unlimited funds then this would be an excellent signing still 60m for a CB is paying over the odds to me

    • 6th June 2017 at 4:10 pm
      Permalink

Don’t really agree with your thinking cos it’s just not feasible that we have to score a minimum 2/3 goals per game to win a match?? No team never mind just us can do that in every game. You get the same 3 points whether you win a game 4-3 or 1-0 and all the best teams rely on a strong foundation at the back cos it relieves pressure having to outscore the opposition.
I do understand your thinking and in an ideal world we’d score 3/4/5 every game but it’s just not possible.
Anyhow if van Dijk does come I believe it’ll entice other top players to join him and it’ll be a no lose situation.
      Fingers crossed….

You only have to look at the results over the season just gone and we got beat off Burnley,Hull and palace plus draws with Manure West Ham Sunderland City Southampton all games which we dominated and if we would have took our chances especially the Burnley Hull and Palace games where we had most possession and over 10 shots on goal per game we could have at least another 9-15 points on the board but we never had the killer instinct and ended up losing those games which in my opinion should have been over before 1/2 time.
Our main problem last season wasn’t really defending as overall we wasn’t all that bad apart from a bit of nerves it was our total lack of imagination and killer instinct when teams worked us out and just sat deep with all 10 men behind the ball waiting to hit us on the counter attack. All I am saying is for the money Southampton want 60-70m for a CB I would rather us use it to bring in a real quality star midfielder or striker that will give us that fear factor back up front like we used to have with the likes of Dalglish,Rush,Fowler,Owen,Torres and Suarez. If we are only going to buy 1 marquee player I wouldn’t waste it on a CB

If them rumours about van dijk are true it would be stunning and send out a huge message of intent, but I’m extremely sceptical and will only believe it when I see him sign. We’ve been stung before when it looked odds on like we would sign a player then bang he’s gone somewhere else.
I know I’m sounding pessimistic but I think I’m just being very cautious. On the other hand if we did sign him then wow, not just cos we’ll be getting a top player but it could prove to be the catalyst for others to come. So fingers crossed eh????

I think Salah would be a decent signing but not for more than 30mill, and I’m hoping that the young ones we’ve signed are for the future cos we need first teamers and strong squad players. Didn’t the season just end…we will make quality moves I’m sure. Give the Klopper a month at least to work it out.

I’m thinking that if Sakho fails to sell then we’re stuck with him and that’s van dyck going to citeh. I’m also not hopeful on a striker. So far we’ve signed the chelski failure and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s it in attack. I don’t think our options are good Uptop and unless we off load ings & sturridge, even origi then their not going to introduce another wage whilst they’re all raking their wages in for little return. West Ham wanted sturridge, theycan av him. Ings needs to go back to Burnley as his time with us has been practice for the apprentice physio’s.
I’m reading apologetic articles about what are we gonna do if we don’t sign our first choice’s. To me that’s the media sending out the “Liverpool can’t afford no one” vibes. I’m prepared for the worst. I thought we were well along in our transfer talks, so where are the players we need. I think they’re waiting to see what players are left after chelski, citeh, manpoo, blow they’re loads. We’ll have the leftovers and no marks no ones even heard of.

2 signings and 1 potential singing ,15year old , 16year old and 20 year old , got FSG written all over it , hoping they come good ,then sell for a profit,
Makes me feel to cry …

Reports are that Southampton now want 75m for Van Djik lol we won’t spend that on him and if we do we need our heads testing would rather spend that sort of money on an attacking option who can open up defences when they sit back or a goal scorer who will get us 25+ goals a season also that young defender sessengon is now a Man U target also had a 28m bid rejected for Salah and we have a new signing it’s a young lad signed on a four year contract from the mighty FC Jazz but he is a good prospect

Being reported we were all set to sign Van Dijk , at the last minute changed from the £180k wages to £130k with add on to make £180k. Things are not looking good.

Personally I think there’s zero chance of us signing him anyway, I just can’t see us spending 50 mill on any single player never mind the big wages

Looks like the Clichy rumour is not going away, if it happens it’s shows the ambition of our owners compared to other top clubs, pathetic

What do you guys think about the rumours of Salah and losing out again to the spuds over the Fulham kid ??

Not sure on Salah, maybe? As for the young LB I’m extremely disappointed that it’s the spuds who again will show us what needs doing when a genuine young prospect comes along. Just like Dele Alli they’ll prove that you need to speculate to accumulate, especially when it’s such a promising kid that I have no doubt will become top class. Shortsightedness and penny pinching as per usual from FSG.

PS guys, we’ve wanted CHAT on here for ages and admin has given it to us, but the amount of chat is shockingly crap….. come on guys let’s start using this facility and get some decent debate good going

Have to say completely underwhelmed who we’ve been linked with so far this summer. Latest one is Salah, this is the guy who snubbed us for Chelsea, bombed there and then left for Roma??? We needed to be decisive in this window, 1st signing needed to be BIG to show our intent…. and nothing at all. I don’t buy the argument it takes time to agree deals, FSG have had months to target and line up our transfers…. and nothing. Watch, every decent name linked with us will evaporate over the next 4 weeks, we will be left with, young unproved players, has been players or just cheaper foreign alternative players. I hope I’m wrong but I have a horrible feeling

Well the good news is it looks like Clichy isn’t gonna be one of our signings after all, well that’s according to the Echo anyway. Fearing the worst with these f-/:in cheapskate yanks again doing what they do best, ripping us off and spending as little as poss while reaping as much as they can.
Also looks like we’re gonna miss out on the young Fulham left back and once again the spuds will swoop in and bag one of the best prospects in football. Have we not learned anything from the Dele Alli saga?? Pisses me off that not only do we have owners who don’t spend but we have ones that can’t see real potential. Yes they buy cheap youngsters who they think will turn out profitable but along with our scouts not able to see the real gems. Talk about can’t see the wood for the trees????
I have no doubt that this kid has got what it takes to be a genuine world class player who just like Alli and Bale before him, will be at spuds playing exciting football.
Oh well If we’re not careful rely we’ll be relying on Milly at LB again next season

It gets even better….. looks like we’re in for Clichy from Arsenal, guess what it’s a free transfer… just hope we’re saving the big ones for later in transfer window

Fsg will bank this seasons champions league dough and take it as an unexpected Brucie bonus. They will spend as little as poss and hope to get over the line next year too. One 19 yr old chelski reject signed is just the start. I expect to recognise none of the signings they make, Makes me Seeth this crew of cheapskate yanks. We are a friggin joke.

Hey, 1st signing in the bag….. 19 year old youth player from Chelsea on a free….. BOOM!!!!!! FSG “back of the net” just another £2.50 to spend during the summer.

Shity already bought 2 players for £90, now that’s how you buy players in the transfer window. We’ll still be haggling over conference south players in August if previous windows is anything to go by

Last time we got CL we sold Luis and replaced him with Lambert and Balotelli. I honestly can’t see us going out and signing any established top talent, we are currently being linked to big money moves for Van Dijk, Keane, Kieta & Sessegnon who all share 1 thing in common. They have all only had 1 good season this year. Before that they were either unheard of or in weaker leagues. I don’t mind us buying this type of player but 30 -50 mill for each player I feel like we would be taken for a ride. When Klopp came in we said he would attract the world class talent so let’s see if this will happen because it hasn’t in our other windows.

Let’s be really clear, unless FSG put their hands in their pockets and fund some big signings then we’ll out of all the competitions very quickly. £100m is nothing these days, CITY just spent £43m on 1 player. We need 4 positions covered in this window with world class signings… centre back, left back, left sided winger and 30 goal a season striker. On top of this he needs 4 squad additions…. I’m looking at £200m

I’ve got a sneaky feeling that Studge will stay another season. Also Klopp’s got a bit of a balancing act to do, with the extra games meaning we’ll need a much much bigger squad to cope. So he can’t get shut of all the deadwood cos not only will they need replacing but extra players are required.
Add all that to the fact that fsg don’t like spending dosh on us means it’ll be a very interesting summer. Think we’ll just have to trust the Kloppmeister

Does anybody actually believe that we are trying to sign Kieta been so many players we have tried to buy but haven’t I think it’s all hype to make it look like FSG are trying for big players. But yo be fair at the start of last season I was moaning that our 1 big signing was Mane and he would only be a squad player at the best look how that one turned out what a piece of business that was lol.
I am just going with the flow this window and believe what is happening once they have the liverbird on there chest but most of all I will trust Klopp to find us some little gems plus get rid of quite a bit of deadwood. I can see Sakh,Moreno,Sturridge, zings,Wisdom, Stewart and a few more being shipped out

Besides needing a LB and CB, some other questions Sturridge stays or goes? Judging by the number of games missed and the fact he needed a shot in the hip after playing 21/2 games, he will go. There is also Henderson, I am not sure his foot problems can be solved, a 3rd season sitting out games waiting for it to heal, will hurt the team. After back to back knee surgery, we may want to loan out Ings to get games and see if his knees will hold up. Tough decisions to make and transfers have to be spot on.
